The purpose of H.Y.P.E.Enrichment Programis to provide preventive services and programs for at-risk inner-city youths that will enhance their self-esteem, provide academic learning during crucial developmental years, and enrich their life experiences through social, cultural, and recreational programs.
Helping Young People Excel (H.Y.P.E.) Enrichment Program, the C.O.G.I.C. Community Center’s Children and Teen outreach program, cultivates new and efficient ways to deliver a superior program to children, adolescents, and teens in the surrounding communities. Our program consists of FamilyStrengthening, a Teen Zone ages 13 to 18, Boy Scouts of America, a Game Room, 4-H Youth Club, After school tutoring through The Champion Learning Center, Arts & Crafts, Hip Hop Dancing, S.T.E.A.M., Recreation, field trips (parks, museums, cultural sites), sports (AAU & League Basketball), overnight camp, and community service, and Culinary Arts.
Our H.Y.P.E. (Helping Young People Excel) Enrichment Program is a safe haven in Muskegon County where underserved youth are empowered to take ownership of the quality and direction of their lives through programs in education, arts, and well-being and are inspired to make a meaningful difference in their community and the world.
As individuals creating and working together for a common mission, H.Y. P. E. is a Christian environment where all are free of harassment and are empowered, valued and appreciated for their unique qualities and contributions. We endeavor to treat each other with appreciation, understanding, dignity, respect and fairness at all times. We provide a safe and friendly environment where kids ages 6 years to 18 years can come and have fun. Instead of our children running the streets, we want to give them something to do and keep your child safe! There is always something to do and the kids never get bored.
Through the H.Y.P.E. Enrichment Program, we focus on shared values and aspirations. Each day we meet our members and staff with love and respect offering group prayer to begin our day with this in mind, “CAUTION You are entering the Positive Zone. Please leave negative thoughts outside”.We commit to constant growth and improvement as human beings and as a community agency. And, whether in the gymnasium, the cafeteria, the athletic field, the dance studio, in a classroom, the Teen Zone, or anywhere in our facility, we are connected through a set of values that inform our behavior: Respect, Empathy,Accountability, Courage, Hope because they are REACHing beyond their walls and past the horizon… and they are carrying something with them.
H.Y.P.E.’s vision of diversity honors the complexities and differences that comprise the world community and within our membership including gender, race, ethnicity, cultural background, place of origin, religion, class, sexual orientation, age, functional expertise, physical capability, and educational background. We also welcome and value diversity of perspective, ideas and creativity.
We inspire, communicate, and educate to empower at-risk youth to succeed! H.Y.P.E. Enrichment Program is an ongoing program for ages 6 to 18 (Elementary, Middle School, and High School students) that goes year-round, Monday thru Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Our members are served a snack and a healthy dinner every day.
